FASTER FARTHER

My blog is actually a secret laboratory. Hidden in a high tech man-cave between the mountains and sea.

And yeah, I blame my parents.

You see, I was raised in a unique home by a mostly affable set of genius parents. One of whom had a top notch machine shop and an endless supply of engineering skill to help me make some serious trouble as a kid. The other was a skilled defense attorney which proved handy when the cops came to the front door.

I was also raised with a profound love of sport and adventure and a deep appreciation for things that manifest philosophy in touchable, tangible ways. As such, Faster Farther was born out of the wild, sometimes reckless, inventive spirit that fuels my soul and resonates with my creative desire to see just how fast, and how far I can push things in my life.

It's a creative cocktail of engineering, industrial product design, branding and dreaming out loud that keeps my creative fire burning bright.

Speaking of fire; if you happen to see a smoke signal, run away. Better yet, drive. Very very fast.

The Faster Farther logo is a twin lighting bolt, symbolizing the twin creative forces of passion and perseverance. It's also two F's shoved together; a double middle-finger nod to my 3rd grade teacher who ripped up my drawings of a harrier jet. I won't forget you Mrs.Pearson.

I dream up lots and lots of neat stuff at Faster Farther.

The Faster Farther "Dream Machines" series has been a fan favorite on the FF Instagram.

Some of the things I dream up even become real, which helps me learn new skills and break new ground creatively.

Pictured Above: A 3D Printed Wave Deflector made out of a semi-flexible styrofoam substrate to fit virtually any hull shape. The design features a subtle arch that promotes a clean release of water to the side, and not up and into the pilot. It weighs less than one ounce.

So my blog isn't just a "blog" after all.

And this isn't just a portfolio full of words and pictures and "ads". It's a place where ideas come to life in many forms. Ideas that inspire. Challenge. Surprise. And sometimes lead me on fantastic adventures all over the world.

I designed and built a custom surfski in partnership with Epic Kayaks for my 2015 Vancouver Island Circumnavigation Record Attempt. You can read about that spicey little adventure here.  I hope to make another attempt on the record sometime soon.
